Help with Assessment & Funding

For many, a first step towards determining the most appropriate type of care is to determine the level of funding to which you or your loved one may be entitled to.

Assessment by the South Canterbury District Health Board’s Aged Care Needs Assessment and Service Coordination Service (NASC) will identify the level of need for ongoing health care and support. Once your level of support has been determined by NASC, our Residential Liaison Manager will discuss the options we offer with you.

We’ll help you develop a plan that meets your needs and supports your goals. With top-quality support from our caring, experienced and well qualified staff, you’ll soon be on the road towards getting the most out of this next phase of your life.

Deciding the Path That is Right for You

Presbyterian Support provides the full continuum of care from home-based through to retirement village and residential care. We can provide you with all the information you need to help you decide which path would best reflect your needs and preferences.

While some might prefer to stay living at home (with in-home support), others enjoy the company, activities and onsite support offered in a retirement village or rest home environment.

Each rest home and complex has its own distinct culture – our Residential Liaison Manager can take you on a guided tour of our complexes at The Croft or Margaret Wilson in Timaru, or Wallingford in Temuka, to help you consider your options.

Moving In to Residential Aged Care

Depending on your needs and preferences, if you are interested in joining one of our residential communities, our Residential Liaison Manager will discuss availability with you and can arrange a site tour and personal meeting with the relevant member(s) of the rest home team.

We can also help you fill out the relevant forms and provide advice and support to help make the transition as smooth as possible. We are known for the warm welcome we provide for our new residents, so rest assured we will do everything we can to help you feel at home.

We can support you to remain in your own home, keep healthy and stay connected with your friends, family and community. We’ll work with you to put together a plan to help you set goals for yourself and make the most of your independence. Contact our Community Services team to find out more.

Managing with a Disability

Need help managing life with disability? We can support you in your own home, or within one of our facilities:

our team are experienced in supporting people to live at home
within either our residential aged care facilities
or within our young persons disabled unit.

Either way, our focus is on supporting your goals and helping you maximise your independence.
