You deserve to live your life to the fullest extent possible, wherever you choose to live and regardless of age, frailty or disability.
When you want to stay in your own home for as long as you can, Presbyterian Support South Canterbury supports you by providing home-based care. Our Home Support and Community Services care packages help you live in your own home, stay healthy and continue to enjoy your social life.
We provide different levels of care in your home, according to your needs. With the goal of supporting your independence in your home for as long as possible, our services can cover:
- light support – such as housework and meal preparation
- “complex” or “non complex” care – such as assistance with personal hygiene, dressing, medication, support for specific health problems (including the challenges of dementia).
We work within a “restorative care” model. This means we focus on your strengths, abilities, needs and goals to help you improve and/or maintain your physical and psychological health and continue to live as independently as possible.
We develop an individual care plan for you and review this with you every three months. Your care plan centres around your strengths, abilities, needs and goals, to help you reach your potential whilst maintaining your independence and dignity.
Age does not matter when we work as a team – we focus on what you can do, rather than what you can’t.
Our clients inspire us every day. We see supporting you as a privilege.
If you have an age related condition, disability or need help getting back on your feet after illness or injury, our carers can help around the house, with personal care, grocery shopping or light exercise.
An alternative to rest home care, Community First Registered Nurses and trained Support Workers provide rest home level care for eligible clients aged 65+ who choose to stay in their own homes.
Private Paying Clients

Enliven Day Centre & Saturday Club

Help with Assessment & Funding
For many, a first step towards determining the most appropriate type of care is to determine the level of funding to which you or your loved one may be entitled to. Assessment by the South Canterbury District Health Board’s Aged Care Needs Assessment and Service Coordination Service (NASC) will identify the level of need and funding for ongoing health care and support.
The next step is to sit down with you to discuss the options, helping you to put together a plan that meets your needs and helps you reach your own goals. We will then work alongside you to bring your plan together, with top-quality support from our caring, experienced and well qualified staff.
