The South Canterbury Gala Health Awards recently celebrated our community’s success in the health arena.
Among those recognised for their work towards health in our community were Wallingford Home Nurse Manager Raewyn Mehrtens and PSSC CEO Michael Parker.
Extra Mile Award
“This category highlights that person/group/service that goes above and beyond the norm. They can also be known as the star performer; future leader; the up and comer; or just amazing.”
Raewyn Mehrtens, Nurse Manager at Wallingford Home, was a finalist of three in this category, for which there were 50 nominations. Raewyn was shortlisted for “her success in making Wallingford a fantastic place to live, work, and work with.” Special mention was made of Raewyn’s “particular skills around end of life care with great attention to the spiritual needs of people and their families during tough times.”
Business Culture Award
“This category highlights innovations and activities that improve workplace culture. This may be within a team or
across an organisation.”
PSSC CEO Michael Parker was a finalist of three, and winner of this category. Michael won the award for “his insight, foresight and courage” in “ensuring PSSC has become a market leader and an employer of excellence.” The focus of the award was Michael’s work to embed the Eden Alternative® Philosophy of care throughout PSSC aged care.
Wallingford Home was also nominated in the Business Culture award category.
Congratulations to Raewyn, the Wallingford Home team and Michael for their work towards better health outcomes in South Canterbury.
