Volunteering is as rewarding for the volunteers who give their time, as it is for the recipients of their care and skills. Volunteers are vital to the work of Presbyterian Support South Canterbury. Without volunteers we wouldn’t be able to provide our full range of services to the residents, clients and the families we support.
We value the generosity and dedication of volunteers who complement the care of staff by contributing time and expertise to a wide range of services. Regular visits from “volunteer” children and pets are also an important pathway to connection, stimulation and enjoyment for all.
Our volunteer roles are varied and interesting, and times are flexible. You can volunteer once, twice or three times a week, once a month – your commitment can be regular or from time to time. Whatever time and skills you are able to generously give, we are very grateful. Approximately 130 volunteers assist Presbyterian Support in our mission of care every year, providing in excess of 8300 volunteer hours annually. In addition to providing care, friendship and support in our rest homes, volunteers also provide invaluable services at our Enliven Day Centre, as drivers, at Family Works and at many PSSC events.
We always have volunteer options available and are always looking for more volunteers! Whatever your age, experience or skills, we would love to hear from you, and will work with you to find opportunities that are suited to your skills and interests. Training is provided, with all volunteers required to go through a vetting process, take part in an induction programme and agree to our organisational policies and code of conduct. We support our volunteers with regular liaison from our Volunteer Coordinator, volunteer newsletters, training and update sessions and an annual “thank you” event.
