Peter Doran – Tour Aotearoa Fundraiser for Family Works
By day Peter Doran is an anaesthetist at the Timaru Hospital but in his spare time he is a cyclist extraordinaire and has just completed a huge journey – the Tour Aotearoa Bike Challenge
Peter came to visit us at Family Works just before he set off on this huge journey cycling from Cape Reinga to Bluff. He told us that he wanted to raise money and awareness of our Family Works services for children and youth.
He was aware that a family psychologist was available but was not fully funded. Peter feels that access to emotional health & well being services for young people is so important, so, he is raising money for our Child and Family psychologist, Catherine Feely, to have more hours available for the children and families in South Canterbury.
We have been following Peter on his tour and updating this page with photos as he traveled on his journey.
Peter is so appreciative to all of the people that supported and donated to his cause he has passed the amount that he was aiming to raise which was $5,000 he has currently raised $12,000! This is including all of the generous supporters of Peters plus a surprise donation from Bidwill Hospital Trust that donated $5,000. You can still donate to Peter’s Fundraiser donate here
Peter also intends to auction off his riding top and have a Charity Dinner – more details of that to come soon.
