Become a Christmas Angel and support a local family this Christmas

Christmas can be a joyous time, it can also be a time of extreme struggle and stress for some South Canterbury Families, now more than ever local families are struggling and for many of them, this is a situation that they have never been in before .  With your help these families can have a magical Christmas.

The Family Works Christmas Angel project will enable your staff, family group, friends, work colleagues, school groups or teams to buy gifts/gift vouchers, experiences etc for a local family in need this Christmas.

For many of Families in South Canterbury, providing Christmas for their children/grandchildren seems so unattainable but you can help give these vulnerable families a helping hand.

Last year nearly 180 local Families in our region were supported thanks to the amazing support of people like you who became Christmas Angels.  The families were so very grateful and overwhelmed by the generosity of their Christmas Angel and the Christmas Angels said it felt really good to be able to help a real family in need.

How it Works:

Family Works will identify the families most in need and will match your group to a family, we will then give you a profile of this family (it could be a Mum & kids, Grandparents raising grandchildren, Dad & kids etc) this profile will include ages of the children and the interests of the children and family.

You and your group/team/workplace then shop for the family based on the profile (presents, supermarket, petrol, warehouse, movie vouchers, swim passes, edible treats, books, board games, outdoor games, puzzles, clothing etc)  If we all give a little, it really does go a long way.

Family Works will collect the gifts/items from you just before Christmas and will deliver your gifts to your family. (Everyone’s identity remains anonymous)

You can decide how this will work best for your workplace/family group/team and how involved everyone becomes in the project.

Working together we really can make a difference to the lives of vulnerable families in South Canterbury.  Thanks to the generosity of our community last year we were able to include families working with other agencies and we are looking forward to being able to support more agencies and their families in 2022.
