The Homestead Community Hub brings together groups of like-minded people who all work hard in our community to see people thriving – living meaningful, healthy, longer lives. This hub is available to hire for meetings or functions at no cost to Not-For Profit groups and a charge for business groups. The Croft Homestead has been wonderfully restored to its former glory and reopened as The Homestead Community Hub on Friday 30th January 2026 by Hon James Meager, MP for Rangitata. The Hub will provide a comfortable space for Croft village residents to connect, a place for our volunteers, PSSC team and other not-for-profit organisations to come together and collectively carry out meaningful mahi to help improve lives of people in our community for generations to come.

Most importantly, staying connected and active is important to mitigate boredom, helplessness, and loneliness. Our open veranda and lounge will provide spaces for our independent residents to come together for social activities and enjoy the comfort of The Homestead as Lorna and Hamish Grant intended.
“The sum of parts is greater than the whole.” We value the input of each, and every person and group that contributes to the success of people in our community. Our teams, our volunteers, our donors, supporters, our suppliers, and our wider community have been instrumental to improving lives of others.
Each space in the Homestead supports and celebrates the success of each of our core groups: our team, our volunteers, our community and most importantly, our residents and the people we support and care for.
Every year our team of volunteers give over 6500 hours to support and care for our older people and families of South Canterbury. Our meeting rooms will support and connect these like-minded goodsorts.
We appreciate the efforts of like-minded organisations, who support our vision of a stronger community. This is our chance to pay it forward and lighten the financial load for other non-profits. Our boardroom and meeting rooms will be available to these groups through our free booking system.
Future proofing for the benefit of generations to come is critical in our work. The administration offices on the first floor of The Homestead Community Hub will be utilized to grow, retain, and strengthen our team of like-minded community focused people.

Peter has been entertaining crowds in South Canterbury for years. Before Kerry lost her ability to play guitar and sing, they entertained together. Peter is a member of local band ‘Dixieland’, they recently played to a crowd at The Hydro to raise funds for Family works.
Peter is 1 of 150 volunteers who show care and companionship to our residents. Each volunteer plays a critical role in helping us deliver on our Eden care philosophy which centers around removing loneliness, boredom, and helplessness, to live longer healthier lives.
From card games to mobile nail salons, pet companions and Friday night entertaining to helping with meals, or simply listening, our volunteers collectively contribute a phenomenal cost saving, both monetary and time, and add immeasurable value to the lives of families, older people, and most vulnerable people in our care.
