Respite care or short-term care provides support for elderly (or special needs) clients and their carers.
With respite care, carers can have a well-earned break, catch up on everyday activities or go on holidays, knowing that the special person in their life is safe and being well taken care of.
In many cases, your carers can continue to care for loved ones longer if they are supported by respite care when they need it.
Some respite care clients return to us on a regular basis and see our respite facilities as a second home. We warmly welcome all returning respite care clients and enjoy seeing them renew friendships with other residents and our caring staff.
Your carer might use day respite care to go shopping or attend to errands, or for longer stays to attend a wedding or other event, go on a holiday, or if they are unwell or unable to provide care for any other reason.

You or your loved one can be referred to day respite by your GP or NASC (Needs Assessment Service Cordination) (Ph: +63 3 687 7114), or contact our Residential Liaison Manager who can help you determine your needs and facilitate the referral process.
Short and long term restorative care is available at The Croft or Margaret Wilson homes for ACC approved clients.
If you have been in hospital and are ready to be discharged, but still need more help than usual, you may benefit from our HomeFIRST Service.
HomeFIRST provides intensive, short term support for clients transitioning from hospital back into life at home, removing the need for hospital admission by being able to take acutely unwell clients from either ED or GP practice.

Costs for respite care may vary depending on your circumstances and the kind of help you need. Depending on your individual circumstances, some services may be fully or partially funded. Costs can vary depending on the type of service – from an hourly rate for in-home respite, a daily rate for residential respite or a sessional fee for centre-based respite. Any fees and eligibility for subsidy will be discussed and agreed upon with your service provider before you receive the services.
